The Truman show is a great movie that made me think about how people on reality shows lives are. They go through so much just to become a “celebrity” or to get money. In ‘The Truman Show’ Christoff was the producer of the scripted life he created for Truman. The producer in an indirect way tried to make himself similar to God. The reason I say this is because he was in complete control of Truman’s life. When Truman tired to leave Seahaven, he did everything within his reach and power to keep him in this made up world called Seahaven.

In the movie, Truman was completely unaware of his plotted life. It took him quite some time to realize he was living in a made up world, and felt cheated on, for he never asked for a fake lifestyle. Christoff had no right to take over an innocent man’s life without his consent, and to expose it to the entire world. No one should have the power or ability to control someone’s life. Everyone in Seahaven never took the time to put themselves in Truman’s shoes or even speak up to Christoff explaining that what he was doing was wrong and unfair.

Truman and people in reality shows are similar yet so different in many ways. The difference between reality television “actors” is that they are aware of what predicament they place themselves in. They are aware of the consequences and sometimes can back out from the production. In “The Truman Show”, he was only able to see and hear what the production team had assigned the characters in Seahaven to do. At the end of the movie, Truman did not want his life to continue the way it had been for so many years. I believe being part of a reality show brings no good to the person who is going to participate on them
